PEEPS!

For some reason, I always feel pressure when it's time to post an event {this time it's elijah's birthday party} So for now, we'll skip it, and I'll show you what I did today while they were at school. I realized this morning that Renée was starting Easter break a day early {tomorrow} so I frantically worked on these as soon as Elijah was at school. I had them there by lunch, so a fast project I must say!

I had grand plans of listing them on etsy weeks ago, with shirts to match, of course, but that never happened. This month was overtaken by parties, birthdays, and more parties--not that I' mind :) Then today, I found this project...my peep obsession has just been reignited!!!

Elijah is once again left with candy. It's much harder for me to do cute stuff for him. I don't think the boys would appreciate hair clips:) not to mention his teacher who does not appreciate the cute stuff at all! Per her request, we had to bring wrapped candy. I think that note was solely directed at me...we did our best. He was happy.

complicated.

I just finished this super cute bedding for a set of sisters. I decided that I MUST take it outside to take pictures. It seemed so easy--the bed is only a few yards from the back door, and is easy to take apart/put together.

Got the bed outside and put together. The perfect overcast was gone. The sun was out--on the wrong side of the house. So instead of taking pictures in front of our grungy barn-esque garage doors, I had to turn the bed. Now there's a lovely view of the neighbors littered yard. The wind started blowing. The bedskirt was constantly flying up. I may have broken the bed a little, and I got A LOT of crazy looks from the passing traffic!! My friend even stopped to see what I was doing because she said she could see this bed for blocks down the busy street! It may be bright, but I LOOOOVE it!! And so do my girls...a duplicate set may soon have a home here!

I didn't even attempt to take the crib outside! I've decided that I need a spare bed in the garage just to use for pictures--maybe an iron one.

I mean seriously...those are 2 lucky little girls! My girls' pale pink and white room seems SOOO boring now. I can't wait to hear what they think about it!

black & gold!

Of course, today is "black and gold day!" And since it's a BIG day, they needed some new gear! Someone didn't want his picture taken--he shall remain unnamed, at least I finally got a smile instead of a scowl.

Obviously, this is not the kind of fabric I usually go for, but right now it's like gold! The Monday after the game, it was sold out! There was a waiting list...and I actually got a couple of yards--yesterday. Just in time to stay up making clothes for school today. I guess I should get started on Hazel's outfit. We wouldn't want her to feel left out this weekend!

so much to celebrate!

With so much to celebrate in the next few days--the Saints, Vday, and Mardi Gras--how's a boy supposed to decided what to wear!?! Well, since the theme of show and tell was Mardi Gras it was an easy decision today--I can't say the same for the rest of the week!

His favorite part--the hanging tips of the mask...with bells! I'm afraid there may be a battle to get it off of him tonight!

Thanks for noticing mel!:) I did go home and "find the time" to make shirts! After our crazy drive home, our other Christmas Eve duties, and packing the family for the trip--I stayed up making Mickey/Minnie shirts, and I still managed to get 2 hours of sleep!:) I was definitely tired, but they were definitely cute! If my 3 nephews had been there, I don't think I could have pulled it off...I will have to plan further ahead next year!

These two loved feeling like they each had their own baby...unfortunately, Elijah's "baby" hit the road.

2 little indians!

Friday was Reneé's "big day," as she called it. She had been waiting for this day for a solid year! They have a big feast with the students--the nursery girls are the turkeys, the pre-k girls are the pilgrims, and the kindergarten girls are the indians. Last year when she saw that the indians were barefoot--she was no longer happy being a pilgrim. She has seriously talked about being "barefoot at school" ALL year! I don't know what they big deal is, but she thought so!

This is how she left for school...of course braids were a must, but she also insisted that she have a headband. If she had mentioned it before it was time to walk out of the door, I would have made it with feathers.

This is how she came home! Her name is Shining Brook. Each girl was given an Indian name for the month of November. She was a little disappointed that she didn't get to be Rainbow Princess, but she embraced it and wrote her new name on EVERYTHING! Every paper that came home had Shining Brook on it! I'm not sure how into it the other girls were, but I seriously doubt they could have been more enthusiastic about than her!

Very authentic, right? They dyed and drew on the shirts in class and then a few other moms and I cut and beaded them. I can't remember what her papoose's name was...probably Hazel.

Luckily, this little boy got to be an Indian too! His name was Running Feet--very appropriate! He told me that he colored a pilgrim hat, so when he came home with a feather headband I was a little surprised. It made me even happier that I had stayed up Thursday night making him this Indian shirt. Renée kept talking about hers. I didn't want him to be left out.

They both came home with a list of things that they were thankful for.

Reneé was thankful for daddy, hazel, friends, and happy grams.

Elijah was thankful for daddy.

Maybe one day I'll make the list again...

LOTS of sewing!

The past few weeks have been filled with a LOT of sewing! {a lot may just be an understatement} It's been fun, but it's always REALLY fun to see a big project like this finished! My sister asked me to make her friend a onesie and a burp cloth. I used that blue floral fabric. Her friend loved it so much, that she decided to use the fabric for the entire nursery!

city patch...

We did visit the pumpkin patch this year...just a city version! It was in the tiny parking lot of a church with a rent-a-fence--no grass in sight! The one we visited last year is just a couple blocks from our house. They have grass, but I didn't get pumpkin shirts made before they suddenly packed up and left a week before Halloween!
I won't bother captioning each picture, what each wanted to do was pretty evident--Elijah watned to work, Hazel wanted to explore, and Renee wanted to shop! There was LOTS of bribing involved, but obviously not enough to get a picture of all 3 kids looking and smiling! {i would have gladly taken just looking!} I guess there's always next year!
