easter!

renee's spring break started on thursday...when you go to catholic school "holy thursday" is a holiday too! and since she got out half day on wednesday that makes almost 2 weeks of sleeping in:) anyway...we sent these cute treats to school on wednesday. i had big plans of doing egg cookies and sending them in little baskets, but when i couldn't find my egg cookie cutter i just did these. fitting though, since they are the "duck" class. and of course, when i put the last sheet in the oven i found the egg cutter...oh well.

thanks to jessi's mad photoshop skills i made the cute little tags. can those be called tags? i know if she had actually done them they would have been a little more intricate, but it was already past 1 and my ps skills are lacking to say the least...hopefully one day i will get some tutoring!
yesterday morning we took the kids to the easter egg hunt at the church. of course, we were decked out in our CUTE easter outfits! {thank you aunt heather!} neither of the kids would keep the grass in their buckets!
and while we were waiting for the hunt to start {because we were actually on time/early!} we took a few pictures! these 2 are getting SO much better about pictures together....but i can't say the same when it's the 3 of them!
another holiday...another fever blister for renee! and this time with a double ear infection! we were out of drugs for the fever blister so we went to the doctor that morning. i know....AMAZING that i was so productive, so early on a saturday morning! anyway, while we were there he asked if she had complained about her ears. i said no. he said well, they are both infected. {it's been tradition that she gets an ear infection EVERY christmas, so hopefully we haven't added easter to the list!}

hmmmm.....this child! she has always NEEDED LOTS of sleep, and all day preschool has taken its toll! she now has fever blisters almost once a month! on friday morning she woke me up at 6 something and said she had a bad dream. i sent her back to bed, and went to sleep myself. when i woke up a few hours later...she was up and had been since 6 and also had those 2 beauties!

i know that its supposedly a myth that girls need more sleep than boys, but according to my kids it is FACT!!! Renee gets about 11-12 every night and i'm still dragging her out of bed for school. Elijah on the other hand usually wakes me up every morning a little after 7 and doesn't even have to get up! {oh how i can't wait to get back on a late schedule this summer! 7am and me DO NOT get along! and hazel sleeps until 10!}
anyway, we have drugs and she is already on the mend! back to easter...
see what i mean? the 3 of them posing together=lots of weird faces and wandering eyes...i keep hoping if i try enough that i could get 1 picture of them all looking happy and at the camera. still tyring!
here they are waiting for the rope to fall...Elijah was SO excited!! he was FINALLY getting to hunt eggs! last year would have been his first year to actually do it, but he was in his cast and was being pulled around in a wagon. cute, but probably not too much fun.
he seriously ran around like a crazy little boy picking up EVERY egg he saw! he didn't get the concept of only 12 eggs! i kept chucking eggs out of his bucket for the little ones.

hazel was actually awake for some of the activities, which is highly unusual! she usually sleeps through EVERYTHING!!!
orum was on "baby duty," while i was on "camera duty." i know that renee and elijah were so happy that he waited to study until after the egg hunt,and i think hazel may have been too!
can you guess whose bucket? of course, in true renee fashion she only collected pink eggs once again! i wonder how long she will keep this up!? after all that fun...hazel and her baby friend parker snoozed away in their carseats!
and of course, the bunny came! not much candy, but lots of fun stuff! the bunny even got crafty this year and made a dog and cat hooded towel. that bunny needs a LOT of practice with those! if they had been made in a factory, they would have gone straight to the "irregular" bin!! the kids like them and they LOOK cute on. i guess that's all that matters! hopefully they won't fall apart in the washer!
{sorry momma....the easter bunny stole the pink bunny because hazel's bucket was too bare!}
and no easter would be complete without seeing a cute baby in her easter bonnet! her tiny size 1 bonnet that mimi gave her for christmas FINALLY fits!
I'm now debating if im up for elijah and renee with egg dye!?!
happy easter!

sisters....

I LOVE to see these 2 together...there's nothing like a sister! Sure, my sister and I had our spiffs...which included lots of hair pulling and scratching, even bitting ourself and tatling on the other! {although, I think Heather started that...leave it to the younger child!} But for the most part I think we were sweet, and I took care of my little sister. So far, the same is true here. The older one is taking care of the baby, while the little one is pulling hair and scratching--just not on purpose YET!and big sisters also let you play with fun things....today Renee was sharing the candy filled ribbon wand that she got at a birthday party yesterday. She said, "here hazel you hold it. hold it just like you hold a finger. you can do it. hold it like you hold a finger" {in a sweet high-pitched voice of course} followed by lots of cheering and "you did it!" hazel wasn't quite sure what she was doing, but she got excited from renee's response and started flailing her limbs like crazy! which also got the ribbons flying....renee was quite pleased!next activity...dress up! renee sheds her uniform as soon as she walks in the door and heads right for the dress up drawer. she realizes that hazel is a little too small for dress up, but definetly old enough for "accessories!" she let hazel try on her little easter ring. it was too big, of course. renee kept it for herself, but assured hazel that one day she would be big too and could wear it when it fit.and after all that play...it was time for a little snooze. she swaddled hazel and gave her a paci. {only that "blanket" was my fabric...luckily, there was no spit up involved this time. project post coming soon!} these 2 have lots of cuddle time...this was on my lap while i was sitting on the floor watching conference. renee LOVES to go lie beside hazel...she snuggles, whispers, and kisses until...the brother shows up...and then it becomes a battle of who can get closer to her or have more of my lap. i'm not sure the 3 of them will be able to remotely fit much longer!and then there's the joy renee gets when she sees hazel wearing her cute baby things! in fact, renee ONLY wants hazel to wear things that were hers! but when things are this cute and sweet who wouldn't want to see them again!?

love the chub..

ok, so maybe she's not SO chubby. but relatively speaking, she's my chubbiest yet! she did weigh in today at 11lbs 6 oz...that's a whole pound up from last month! i mean just look at these cute little rolls! and while you're looking {rachel} see if you can see one of the reasons i LOVE cloth diapers! i don't have to see elmo and his obnoxious little friends anymore! sure, we usually wear bloomers, but you could still see them!

i know, hard to believe that me...the" poop-a-phob" is using AND loving cloth diapers! but it's true!! i think potty training elijah must have hardened me, but caring for them is actually not that gross!

in fact, they are actually helping me keep my laundry under control! you are suppossed to run them through a rinse cycle before you wash them, so while i wait for the rinse to finish i steam some clothes! i now steam the clothes i washed from the day before, which only takes a few minutes. heather is probably the only one that can attest to how out of control the steaming pile gets over here, but believe me it BAD!

and they are really cute! we're not talking about prefolds and safety pins, but CUTE pink and purple and yellow and aqua diapars! and elijah loves his orange one! {the other 2 STILL have to sleep in diapers...any suggestions on how to fix that?} i imagine that they are also a bit more comfy...at least renee refuses to wear a disposable now!
don't worry, i'm not totally phsyco. i still have a stash of the regular diapers to wear with outfits that a cute fluffly diaper won't work with or for the day that they are all dirty. {or maybe my system is so fool proof we won't have those days!? i guess well see...} regardless, i do feel at ease that i don't ever have to worry about running out! i used to buy a case at sams, but for some reason when i would open the last package in the box i started to worry that i would run out! i know CRAZY...since there's like 70 in each package, but now i NEVER have to buy another diaper--unless there's one that's just too cute to pass up!

and the BEST part...we don't wake up soaked anymore!!! the little girl can soak through a disposable in no time--even changing her half way through the night. and since she usually makes her way into our bed at some point...when she woke up i was wet, she was wet, and my bed was wet! {no fun at all!} but those days are no more! i'm actually amazed becuase i NEVER anticipated that one, but seriosuly am SO glad!

now you can just forget about how crazy that all sounded and look at some more of her sweetness...
she has found her hand and LOVES them! loves to look at them...
and eat them...she's even trying to get only her thumb in there. but that's NEVER gonna happen! i've got my very own "thumb patrol!" renee and elijah have seen me take her hands out of her mouth so much lately, that they often beat me to it! they now take her hand out {suprisingly always VERY gently!} and replace it with her paci! and then they proceed to explain to her that you do not eat hands! it's actually really funny to hear! i need to try to video them in the act! and she LOVES to blow spit bubbles!

chubby or not...she's still cute!

putting my scraps to good use...

yesterday i got super crafty...and tried some appliques thanks to a little inspiration from jessi!

I made elijah a star shirt to match his $1.50 shorts from babygap! I used one of his super cute short sets last year that got ripped while doing "boy things." i still don't know how or what he did it, but he was DIRTY and had a huge rip in both his shirt and shorts! i'm sure there will be many more of those instances to come...
he was SO PROUD!! i haven't found too many boy things to make, so usually everything is for renee. he put it on immediately, and REFUSED to take it off! in fact he slept in it, and is still wearing it. i forsee a battle this afternoon when i need to put it in the washer!
apparently, this outfit is also suitable for a "hun." elijah has recently had a thing for the princess movies...he's discoverd that he LOVES the villians in them! the huns in mulan have their swords on their back, just like this...sure its not a ninja sword, but he has now moved on from pirates, and is now a hun. who knew there were so many sword characters!?
i also made my niece who's due to arrive in july, 3 onsies! we will no longer wear solid onsies in this family! i've had stuff to applique for over a year, but was never brave enough to give it a try. i don't know why?!?! it's SO easy, and SO cute!!

melanie, jessi...get ready for some HOLY CUTENESS!!!

i can't take the credit...i saw it on someone's blog, just don't know whose! but seriously...how cute!?! if nothing else, my child has the cutest hair accessories in the entire pre-k! {even if it's not a bow!} she really was excited when i showed it to her this morning...it's just a little too early for pictures in her opinion, but can you really blame her?

i also made elijah a ribbon belt...which he also uses as a sword holder. {boys!} and renee a tooth fairy pillow for that elussive loose tooth! i'm just too lazy to get up and take a pictres. maybe another day.

and we wouldn't want to leave out our precious baby girl...

here she is modeling a super cute hand-me-down from ellie & gabbi! she's such an angel baby! eats and sleepes with a little bit of play and laughs mixed in. she LOVES her hands! we are in a constant battle...she puts her hands in her mouth and i replace it with a paci...i always win :) but she's still sweet nonetheless!
