serious spectator...

we decided Saturday night to go see the WM rebels play (my high school--they were there for the high school football playoffs) at the Superdome. Since the kids are always asking to go there, we decided that this was something they might enjoy...and it was definitely much shorter than a Saints game! We found some friends from home and sat on the 4th row...Elijah was serious about watching especially after he got his own football during the 3rd quarter from the cheerleaders...

Renee liked it too, but I think she was more into the spirit groups. she told me she wanted to be one of the "blue people" (the flag girls--i guess the flags looked fun) but i told her she could be either a cheerleader or a dancer...once she saw them perform she aggreed they looked more fun...especially when the cheerleaders started stunting. she then started trying to do her own stunts in the chairs, which didn't workout too well since they fold on your feet!

so our team didn't win...they threw an interception in the last few minutes, but the kids had fun and are already asking to go back! we may have created a larger issue with the dome...

let it sneaux, let is sneaux, let it sneaux...

Historic day in New Orleans...it SNOWED and stuck for a while! (only an hour too late for the schools to close here...yes they usually get out any day there are flurries or ice! i was in shock my first snow day at BYU...it snowed and i still had to go to class!) i was pulling up to the carpool lane at Renee's school when the rain turned to snow...she was so excited! they let all the little girls go outside and play in it for a while. (I'm sure she was happy i won the battle of the tights this morning! she hates to wear them to school, but her little legs would have been much colder without them!)

Elijah and i enjoyed the view from the window at home. i guess i should have let him go outside and catch one...he did ask, but you know how we Louisianians don't like the cold-especially this one! maybe next time. besides, after the first hour he was asking for it to go away.

i was just glad he was content to look at the snowman the neighbors had made. i certainly wasn't up for that! it did take almost all the snow from their yard to make it...but a snowman still. I'm ready for Saturday...it should be back in the 70s!

christmas cards...

ok, so i know that i should just keep addresses in some place so that i can find them the next year, but i justify not doing so because lots of us have moved since then...email me you addresses please! breannay@gmail.com and maybe you will get something really cute in the mail!

we &hearts Christmas pajamas...especially matching ones!

(a shot before they saw the camera...looking at little Christmas books together)

so i tried to post last night, but instead lost 600+ pictures! i guess i will start using the "safely remove hardware" icon. orum says he might be able to restore them with some program, but i guess i will have to wait until finals are over to see. i know that i have some of them on the computer already, but i was planning to make a little book of the 25 days of christmas...so I'm a little sad that i lost the pictures for the first week of December! anyway...a few cute pictures from tonight.

how fun will it be when there are 3 to match?! no baby yet, but hopefully soon! orum is done with finals on friday, so hopefully it will wait a few more days!
renee had the urge to cheer...and elijah is just a follower...

i &hearts sarah bareilles and aunt marion

aunt marion came down for the sarah bareillis concert and took me too...me, aunt marion, sarah and gerald all went. it was great...besides the rude girl who was standing next to me. she thought it necessary to try and push me over between the sets. i was not moving, but my legs were getting a little tired of the workout. finally, after 20 minutes i was like stop. she did, but remained standing on top of me...once sarah came out she stood behind her friend the whole time, but made sure to shove me on her way out...who does that? and to a pregnant person! i'm not usually one to use being pregnant as an excuse, but really! how rude! although, aunt marion may have had it worse! she had some girl practically leaning back in her arms, but that's another story!

anyway, we got to meet her afterwards...thanks to gerald leaving his pepper spray in the window that was blocked off during the show since it was right outside her bus. too bad the guy with her can't take a decent picture, but there we are! thanks aunt marion!

getting ready for christmas...

and a new baby! so lots of you already know, but lots of you don't...we're having baby no. 3! due: Christmas eve...so to say the least the holidays should be exciting! the kids are both very excited! we didn't find out the gender, but it's getting harder to keep it a secret. this is the baby a few weeks ago, but we get to see it again on tuesday. orum really wants to know, so hopefully he won't be trying too hard to see. renee is hoping for a girl and elijah has no clue. he changes his answer frequently, but he's been very observant of other little babies that we see. hopefully, he will be as sweet to this baby as renee was to him when she was 2! don't you think this one looks like the two of them? orum and i were amazed and both thought so--maybe it's just the nose.

halloween...

Halloween miracle...2 kids looking at the camera!
so the initial plan was for the kids to be tinker bell & peter pan, but Elijah decided that he would rather be buzz light year. it was the only costume he got excited about...so with days to spare we started the search again and found one on eBay. the Disney store here only had big ones left...yay for eBay! the same thing happened with renee when she was 2...she had been saying for months that she was going to be dee dee doodle from the doodlebops and the week of Halloween decided only snow white would do...another eBay rescue, but back to this year...

the kids were excited because we got 2 days worth of halloween this year...on thursday night the SBA had a carnival at the law school...they had crafts, face painting, a movie and popcorn.
tinkerbell enjoyed it all...

i also want to point out that tink is wearing a vintage Linda Lavender School of Dance recital tutu! (See melanie i don't throw everything away!) i wore it for my recital when i was 4! only were were flowers , not faires...we had little green things on our hands for leaves and a frufru thing on our head for the flower...anyway...
she was VERY serious about getting her paper pumpkin just right...glue sticks are serious business! and of course getting your face painted takes a lot of concentration too...the butterfly was not nearly as impressive as the one at the princess birthday party, but she was happy still...

buzz light year spent most of the night running around saying, "to infinity and beyond" or "calling star command..." and eating the popcorn, but he was one happy buzz!
on halloween day renee got to wear her costume to school... luckily it warmed up and was a very nice day...that night we went to the carnival at the church. they had pizza and games. elijah's favorite was the fishing game. the prizes were little bugs and snakes...we have at least 2 of every one in each color...

then it was onto football. it was part of an older boy's costume, but that didn't stop the little thief...

oh, and there was a pinata...in true young fashion...orum decided Friday afternoon that he wanted to dress up and that he wanted to be syndrome from the incredibles...i guess i should be glad he didn't choose mr. incredible... a sheet, some foam, and some felt...voila...he went to a law school party while we were trick-or-treating and apparently it was a hit.
oh and check out tink's shoes...dollar tree! i just had to sew on a bell and some elastic! she was so proud!
after that we went out trick-or-treating on the other end of our street. it was blocked off for several blocks all the way to St. Charles. it was like a big party. all the neighbors were sitting out on their porch handing out candy. one of the houses even had a jukebox in the front yard! it was the first year we actually went door-to-door and they both thought it was so fun! while we were walking back renee kept trying to pick candy up off the ground. i, of course, told her no. when we got to the last house elijah opened his bag, and it was completely empty! he had been dragging it the whole time...all the while loosing his candy! he suprisingly left happy though...the last house gave him 2 suckers and he didn't notice that the rest was missing!

we hope you had as much fun as we did!

cute favors...

i made a few party favors this year...the take-out boxes for lora's birthday and renee's school and the little mummy's for the playgroup party. Halloween is way more fun with kids who know what's going on!

although, i have to say they may be cuter in costumes when they are younger and possibly easier to photograph too...my absolute favorite costume is elijah's first halloween...he still had cute little baby legs!

see what i mean!?

pumpkin patch...

we did make it to the pumpkin patch...although it was more of the same. Renee posing with her check on her shoulder and Elijah running around like a crazy man! and for some reason he thought it necessary to spit on the pumpkins! boys... unfortunately, not much to it...literally pumpkins and that was it, and the ones we bought didn't even last! they were WAY rotten before Halloween

it's time...

Renée decided this weekend that it was time to read...and she's doing it! She's known the sounds for each letter since she was about 18 months, thanks to the Letter Factory dvd! She's quite proud and has been reading everything in sight! They are still working on letter recognition at school...i guess she decided that was for the birds...here she is with some flashcards (modeling what's in hand as always).

and then there are the faces that orum taught her...after each of these she had to look at the camera to see what she looked like...

she's even been reading to elijah, but was obviously not in the mood at the moment...I still think it's crazy that i have a child old enough to read!
