HALLOWEEN!

It was fun, but I for one--am SOOO glad it's over! I'm tired, and I'm ready to move on. Letting the children choose their costume, meant LOTS of mind-changing and last minute costume scrambling! Over the past few weeks, Elijah went from pirate, to ghost, to spider-man. He was none of those, but he was SOOO adorable! And this little girl went from Melody {ariel the mermaid's little girl} to tinker bell {like last year} to Mulan, to this...a "wedding fairy!" Yes, that's right a wedding fairy. Who knew?
On Friday Renée got to wear her costume to school--which meant staying up late on Thursday. She chose to wear these big purple wings that I made for a friend's birthday party last year. Luckily, I still had an extra flower to put on the front of the dress! I was actually shocked that she wore it! But she was excited and LOVED that all of her little friends kept telling her that she looked like she was getting married! I think she's already becoming a little wedding obsessed...I caught her trying to get Elijah to marry her not long ago!
Oh, and don't forget about the little fairy wand! It was really SO interesting that she picked this wand and those wings! Neither are the ones that she usually plays with...sometimes, I wish I could read her thoughts!

Here he is in all of his super glory...SUPER ELIJAH! And there he is sticking out his tongue...obviously taking his picture WHILE telling him, "No" was very effective! He thought he was awesome!
And the thought his shadow was even more awesome! Once he noticed it...the tricks began!
I guess a flying shadow is the next best thing to actually flying.

And this little baby gets the "most patient" award!! She was adorable and LOVED the costume...especially that thing on her head and that the feathers were attached to it. She didn't try to take off..not even once...riiiiight...
But she did look cute, and she did endure it for 2 whole hours!

Super Elijah had more important things to do than take pictures...he had leaves to collet and bugs to save, and of course a little pouting.
This was as close to a "super hero pose" that I got. It could possibly have to do with the fact that he literally only ate candy and an apple the whole day--just maybe. Obviously, candy does not build big muscles!
After the party at church, we set out to trick-or-treat...we walked up our street a few blocks to enjoy the police barricade! It was SO nice to not have to worry about cars.
At one of the first houses, there 2 made themselves right at home and jumped on their--whatever this is called. Someone was getting a little too possessive and we had to leave quickly...
He LOVES trick-or-treating! And he told us about 200 times while we were doing it.
This one was as proud as a peacock...NOT to be one!
And these 2 were happy that daddy came along...and so was I!

halloween has begun...

Last weekend we went to a bithday party {well, actually 2, but what else is new?!} The first one was a halloween birthday party for 3 of Renée's friends.
These 2 monkeys took FOREVER to decide what they would wear. They literally changed 3 times before we left--both of them. After lots of great ensembles, Renée decided that she would wear her ballet costume from when she was 2!
And Elijah opted to be a "green man" from toy story! SO glad, we had a plethora of dress-up to choose from; of course, neither of them are planning to wear these outfits on halloween--that would be too simple! And apparently, this green man likes to eat ballerinas, dance, and sing...he put on quite the show on the front steps.
It was really fun! They had a hayride, cute halloween food, and, of course, FACE PAINTING! I think this was actually Elijah's first time to have his face painted?! He was REALLY excited about it, so excited that he couldn't stay in line! These girls know all about the face paining line...and when he would run off, they would jump in the chair. FINALLY, he made to the chair...he thought that he looked awesome!

Field trip!

Last week, Elijah had his first official school field trip! They went to the zoo...a place that I am not too fond of. I mean, as far as zoos go, Audubon is great...I just don't really get into animals. But this little boy LOVES the zoo and animals!! We were there, along with several other schools, before they opened. When the unlocked the gates, this little boy was literally the first one in! He took off running at full speed! I am not sure why my children are fascinated with taking pictures with statues/sculptures, but they are! Both Renée and Elijah, feel the need to pose with every single one that they spot...I am sure that Hazel will soon pick up on the trend--making the process even longer! They have even asked to be photographed with the gap mannequins! I am serious.
It was fun to see him interact with his new little friends; however, it seemed that they were more interested in him than he was in them. They all wanted to hold hands...he preferred to be the leader of the pack.
I am serious...every single statue!
We did happen to find some new things...a petting zoo for one! Elijah followed this goat around for a long time!
Then he and his new friend, Sam, decided to hit the playground. Elijah was uninterested in taking pictures because he had just spotted the carousel.
For the boy who was afraid of this ride just last year, he sure LOVES it now! I guess my baby boy is growing up!

in all their sickly glory...

Monday...Hazel went to the doctor...ear infection

Wednesday...Renée went to the doctor...sinus infection
Right now, I'm just hoping we don't have to see her again on Friday!

{2 times in one week, is SOOO unheard of in this house! In the past year that we have lived here, there has only been 1 sick visit to doctor...and that was just to get medicine for Renée's fever blister!}
While we were waiting for Renée's medicine, Elijah fell asleep so I decided to go across the street and take pictures of these two. Hazel sat with Renée for all of 30 seconds, before she decided that she had had enough of the bench...and off she went!

to find the grass and Renée's shoes...
I'm blaming the ear infection for that bruise on her check too...she's been a bit shaky on her feet while she's been sick. She fell and hit her little check on the window sill.
Renée wanted to go sit in the "yellow" {dead} grass. So they did, and Hazel did NOT like it! She prefers green grass!
